62 South Audley St
The studio's second commercial project is a 150m2 split-level boutique office/showroom for Swedish travel agency Select Travel. The new interior, in 62 South Audley St, Mayfair, London W1, UK, used to be a run-down shop selling hidden cameras and other equipment for the discerning amateur spy.
In line with Select's company profile, the new space is almost overwhelmingly white, and bathing in light. The anthracite shopfront is turned into a thin membrane of history between the old street outside and the clean lines of the new space inside. A highly reflective epoxy/resin floor flows through the entire office. Towards the street: a tall and narrow area for greeting clients. Further back: an oversized table for serious teamwork, strategically placed below a reflective skylight. Down the stairs: recreation and meeting spaces; kitchen; bathroom; and an additional office.
According to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, the interior is »exquisite and exotic«. We like to think they're right. The project included everything from initial conceptual work through to detailed drawings of all spaces and features.
